Building Our Local Food Connection Partnerships
PEC is excited to partner with Virginia Tech and MarketMaker to provide a single platform that connects farmers with food retailers, processors, caterers, chefs, and consumers.
With the many local food marketing programs that are around, it can be hard to keep track of them all! Through this partnership, PEC is supporting the development of a streamlined, centralized state-wide local food inventory that provides food producers and buyers access to Buy Fresh Buy Local branding, the MarketMaker online connection platform, and other state-run marketing initiatives all in once place.
By joining a Buy Fresh Buy Local chapter, you’ll also have access to MarketMaker’s online Buy/Sell Forum that allows real-time information about products for sale and items folks are looking to buy — like a Craigslist for local food.
The Buy Fresh Buy Local and MarketMaker partnership is exciting — PEC’s well-known and growing Buy Fresh Buy Local chapters bring an already established network of local food producers, while MarketMaker provides online market connections that will strengthen local food market purchasing.
